As I receive many enquiries about my services, I put together this list of frequently asked questions.
Where do you practise from and what hours are you available?
I work in South Isis (Fraser Coast area, Queensland) Monday through Wednesday, between 9 am and 4 pm*, and from 9 am to 3.30 pm* on Saturdays.
I also offer 7 pm* appointments on Monday evenings.
* All times are in AEST.
I can’t get to South Isis. Can I still consult you?
Yes! I offer telephone consultations, and online consultations using Whereby, an easy-to-use video conferencing platform which - unlike Zoom - is secure and private. You’ll receive the same level of support as the clients I see face-to-face, therefore the consultation fees are the same. I will send any information we discuss during the consultation by email, including treatment plans and ‘homework assignments’.
How do I book in?
You can book in for consultations at my South Isis practice OR online here, or phone me on 0432 766 884, or email [email protected] with your preferred day and time.
What are your fees?
My initial consultation, which is for 1½ hours and is extremely comprehensive, is $240. Subsequent consultations are generally 1 hour and $160, although many of my clients prefer to book extended consultations (1½ hours, $240) if they have complex problems or have a lot of questions to ask.
My concession rates (for pensioners and full-time students) are $180 and $120 for initial and subsequent consultations respectively.
For email support in between appointments, I charge $30 per 10 minutes spent reading and responding to emails, billed monthly. Emails sent to request an appointment change are exempt from charge.
My experience in treating chronic and complex problems has led me to develop treatment plans that span 3-5 sessions, so that I can systematically address all the physical and emotional factors that have contributed to, or are perpetuating, your current problems. You can opt for a block of 3 or 5 consultations, or pay for 1 consultation at a time.
Need a complete diet and lifestyle overhaul? Book a Kickstarter Day - we’ll spend the day together, either in person or online, clarifying your goals, identifying your blocks, and co-developing a step-by-step health recovery plan that’s precisely tailored to your unique needs, circumstances and temperament.
Kickstarter Day (6 hours, + unlimited email support for 1 month): $1197
Noninvasive assessment of your arterial stiffness and cardiovascular disease risk, using pulse wave analysis. You will receive a detailed written report explaining the findings, their implications for your cardiovascular disease risk, and corrective interventions (if required).
During a nutrition consultation: $50
As a stand-alone reading: $70
What payment methods do you accept?
Can I claim for your service from Medicare?
No. Naturopaths and counsellors are currently not covered by the Medicare system.
Can I claim a rebate from my private health insurer?
I am a registered provider of Nutrition and Counselling services. If you have an extras or ancillary package with AHM, Australian Unity, Medibank Private or NIB that covers nutrition and/or counselling, you can claim a rebate for the consultation fee. A few health insurers also offer rebates on supplements. Check with your insurer if you’re uncertain whether you’re covered, and what for. Some health funds do not rebate online or telephone consultations.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to consult you?
Absolutely not! Just phone or email me for an appointment.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
If you require a Saturday or Monday evening appointment, you may need to wait a couple of weeks. If you’re able to come on weekdays, I can generally fit you in within 5 days. I always aim to see urgent cases with as little delay as is humanly possible.
Do I need to have any tests before I come to see you?
If you have recent blood test, scan or x-ray results and reports, scan and email them to me in advance of your appointment so that I can review them before I see you. I prefer to see clients and get a full case history before recommending testing.
Most of the tests I recommend are covered by Medicare, but I do also, when required, refer for testing by a functional pathology lab which conducts specialised blood, stool, urine and hair testing. These tests are not Medicare-rebatable.
How much will I have to pay for supplements and other medicines?
The answer varies. I am not a big prescriber, and for many of my clients, I don’t prescribe any nutritional supplements, herbal medicines or other remedies at all. Others may absolutely require support from supplements in order to regain their lost health. I aim to keep costs affordable and supplementation regimes manageable. I will endeavour to source the most cost-effective supplements for you if they are required.
I hope I have answered all your questions. If not, feel free to phone me on 0432 766 884 or email me at [email protected].
