She had already seen 3 specialists, an integrative medical practitioner, 2 naturopaths and a herbalist by the time she found me. The specialists all recommended the same drug cocktail, while the other practitioners either told her to drink bone broth and/or sold her hundreds of dollars worth of supplements, none of which did more than give her temporary relief.
As I sat with Donna, gently explaining that the reason she was in this mess was that she'd followed bad advice in good faith, she plaintively murmured,
"There's so much information out there, and everything I read or hear is contradicted by something else! How am I supposed to know which source of information to trust?"

Google any health topic and you'll get countless thousands of hits. But how can you distinguish trustworthy from untrustworthy sources?
If you're struggling with a health challenge, well-meaning friends and family members are likely to deluge you with all manner of 'cures' that they've discovered online or in the popular media. How can you tell whether they're bogus or legit?
Your doctor is unlikely to know enough about nutrition, supplements and other 'alternative' treatments to give good advice on them. Meanwhile, he or she may well be recommending tests and treatments that are just as poorly grounded in evidence of effectiveness as many of those 'alternative' treatments! But how would you know, if you're not a health or medical professional yourself?

The thing is, it's actually not rocket science.
