Well, it’s that time of year again! I’m off to the International Plant-Based Nutrition Healthcare Conference, which this year is being held in Oakland, California.
And that means I can squeeze in a couple of days in one of my favourite cities in the world, San Francisco, beforehand – woohoo!
Here’s one of my favourite Chris Isaak songs, just to share the San Francisco love:
This is my 6th PBNHC, and the 7th time the event has been held.
You can catch up on my reports on previous conferences, and my articles on surviving long distance travel without abandoning your healthy habits, here:

The PBNHC has grown from just 200 attendees at its debut in 2013, to over 1000 at the last 3 that I’ve attended. The event is pitched at healthcare providers, and once again, over 1000 doctors, physicians’ assistants, dietitians, nutritionists, health coaches, personal trainers, physiotherapists – and a few interested members of the public – are registered to attend this year.
For myself and a small band of fellow Australian healthcare providers, the PBNHC has become something of an annual pilgrimage. It’s not just the quality of the speakers, the huge variety of presentations, and the healthy and delicious food that keeps us coming back every year – despite the long international flight and gruelling time-zone crunch!
No, there’s something very special about the PBNHC. It’s a place where plant-based practitioners come together to share our love for the power of what we do for our clients and patients, with fellow clinicans who actually get it.
As I’ve discovered in over 25 years of clinical practice, when people adopt a wholefood plant-based diet and other core principles of Lifestyle Medicine such as regular physical activity, prioritising sleep, and cultivating meaningful relationships and a sense of purpose in life, the most amazing health transformations occur with great regularity!
Unfortunately, too few healthcare providers are aware of the power of plant-based nutrition to restore lost health and vitality, prevent and even reverse chronic disease, and promote healthy longevity.
And that means that too few members of the public have been given the option of applying plants rather than pills to what ails them.
I’ll be posting updates on the conference – as well as a few travel pics – on my Facebook page and on Instagram @robynchuter.
And you can bet I’ll be coming back home with renewed enthusiasm for transforming my clients’ lives, the plant-powered way.
