One of my kids’ favourite rituals is our annual Easter egg hunt. I make Easter eggs out of dried fruit, nuts and cacao (raw chocolate), and wrap them in foil. I hide the eggs either inside or outside the house (depending on the weather) and then set the kids loose to find them!

Ingredients:

50 g almonds
40 g macadamias
60 g walnuts
100 g dates
50 g dried figs
30 g (2 heaped tablespoons) cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla

Method:

Grind all ingredients together in food processor until the mixture forms a sticky wodge (yes, that’s a technical term).

Roll into egg-shaped balls (or press into a silicone Easter egg mould). Leave plain, or roll in additional cacao mixed with desiccated coconut.

Wrap in foil squares. Refrigerate for a couple of hours to firm up.
